Getting started
"Your first session: what to do on day one"
Updated 2026-08-21
Two things set up everything else Capital Prep does for you: your exam date and your placement test. Do these first.
1. Set your exam date. Your Game Plan — the daily study schedule on your dashboard — is built backwards from the day you sit the exam. If you haven't booked yet, give us your best estimate; you can change it later and the plan recalculates.
2. Take the placement test. It's 25 questions, spread across your exam's official content blueprint, so we get a signal on every domain — not just your strong ones. It sets your starting point: which areas your plan attacks first, and the baseline your readiness score grows from. Don't study for it and don't use hints — an honest baseline gives you an honest plan.
3. Follow today's plan. Your dashboard shows what to do today: which guide sections to read, which questions to drill, which flashcards are due. You don't have to decide what to study — that's the point.
One tip: come back tomorrow. The flashcard system schedules reviews across days — that's what makes it work — and your streak (with its freeze days) is built to reward showing up, not marathon sessions.
