Refund & SurePass Guarantee Policy

Last updated: September 2026

Your purchase of Capital Prep (operated by Authority Group LLC) is protected two ways: a money-back window, and the SurePass Guarantee. This applies to every exam available for purchase on Capital Prep, in the same way. It supplements our Terms of Service.

Money-back window

Changed your mind? Ask for a full refund inside your pass’s money-back window, measured from your purchase (or from your upgrade, if you upgraded):

  • 7-Day Pass 24 hours
  • 30-Day Pass 48 hours
  • Lifetime 72 hours

No questions asked and nothing to prove, as long as you haven't sat your exam yet: email us at support@capitalprep.com from your account’s email address inside the window and we refund the full amount to your original payment method within 2 business days. Your bank may take a few days more to show it.

That is the only condition. The window closes the moment you sit your exam — a refund after you've sat it is the SurePass Guarantee's job, not this one. Already sat it and didn’t pass? That is what the SurePass Guarantee below is for — a different promise, and it lasts far longer.

If you're in the EEA or the UK, you have 14 days from purchase to change your mind under your local law — that applies whatever the window above says. Just email us.

The SurePass Guarantee

If you prepared with Capital Prep and still don’t pass your exam, we make it right:

  • Every pass (7-Day, 30-Day, and Lifetime): we refund your pass in full — and you keep Lifetime access to your exam’s study materials, free, so you can keep preparing.
  • On the Lifetime plan (SurePass Guarantee Pro), we also reimburse your official exam retake fee in fullone funded retake per exam, ever, when you paid that fee out of your own pocket and met the retake’s own higher bar, described under “How the retake reimbursement works” below.

It is a conditional guarantee, not a no-questions refund: the refund’s conditions are the four below, and they are the whole list. The Lifetime retake reimbursement carries two conditions more — a second qualifying mock, and your SurePass readiness meter at “Getting close” or above — stated in its own section below.

What qualifies

  • You scored your exam's qualifying score (shown on its Guarantee page) or higher on a full-length mock exam in your account — one is enough — and that qualifying sitting was finished within the 14 days before you sat the official exam. You get 4 scored mock sittings per exam — each sitting is a brand-new paper, only a completed, scored sitting uses one (an abandoned sitting never does), we count your best sittings, and a sitting taken after your exam never counts against you. Practice questions and timed practice stay unlimited and never use one. Where an exam’s question pool doesn’t yet support 4 full sittings, mock sittings remain unlimited — your exam’s own section below says which applies.
  • You took the official exam, after you bought your pass, and didn’t pass.
  • You file your claim within 30 days of the date you sat the exam.
  • You file no later than 12 months after your purchase.

Most testing providers report your result the same day. If yours takes longer (some certifying bodies mail results days or weeks later), email us at support@capitalprep.com before day 30 and we’ll hold your claim open until your official report arrives.

Your exam, specifically

The same guarantee applies to every exam we sell — these are the exact numbers for each. Search for your exam or jump straight to it: every section below keeps a permanent address (for example /refund-guarantee#sie), and it is the section your exam’s sales page and study app link to.

  • Score 80%+ on a full-length mock in the 14 days before your CySA+ exam, sit it, and if you don't pass we refund your pass in full — and on the 7-Day Pass and 30-Day Pass you keep Lifetime access to your CySA+ materials, free.
  • Mock sittings: you get 4 scored full-length mock sittings — each a brand-new paper, and only a completed, scored sitting uses one (an abandoned sitting never does). Practice questions and timed practice are unlimited and never use one.
  • On Lifetime (SurePass Guarantee Pro), clearing two full-length mocks at 80%+ in that same 14-day window — with your SurePass readiness meter at "Getting close" or above when you clear them — also covers your retake: we pay your full $439 retake fee. CompTIA's official CySA+ retake fee is $439.
  • "Getting close" for the CySA+ means your SurePass meter has reached this exam's Getting-close marker: a modeled pass probability of 58% or higher, derived from its 81% passing bar — the same boundary behind the status the meter itself shows you. Reaching the higher "Ready to sit" marker is not required.
  • Timing: qualifying mocks count only inside the 14 days before your exam date. File your claim within 30 days of sitting the exam, and no later than 12 months after your purchase; retake receipts are due within 90 days of opening your claim.

  • Score 80%+ on a full-length mock in the 14 days before your PenTest+ exam, sit it, and if you don't pass we refund your pass in full — and on the 7-Day Pass and 30-Day Pass you keep Lifetime access to your PenTest+ materials, free.

A+ CompTIA A+ (Core 1 + Core 2) (CompTIA)

  • The A+ is earned by passing two separate exams (CompTIA A+ Core 1 and CompTIA A+ Core 2). The guarantee covers each core on its own — its own mocks, its own claim.
  • Score 80%+ on a full-length mock of that core in the 14 days before you sit it, sit it, and if you don't pass we refund your pass in full — and on the 7-Day Pass and 30-Day Pass you keep Lifetime access to your A+ materials, free.
  • Mock sittings: you get 4 scored full-length mock sittings per core — each a brand-new paper, and only a completed, scored sitting uses one (an abandoned sitting never does). Practice questions and timed practice are unlimited and never use one.
  • On Lifetime (SurePass Guarantee Pro), clearing two full-length mocks of that core at 80%+ in that same 14-day window — with your SurePass readiness meter at "Getting close" or above when you clear them — also covers your retake: we pay your full $274 retake fee per core. CompTIA's official fee is $274 per core — up to $548 in total if you claim on every core.
  • "Getting close" means your SurePass meter for that core has reached its own Getting-close marker — each core has its own passing bar, and the meter shows you where you stand as you study.

What “Lifetime” means

A Lifetime pass has no expiry date. It gives you access to that exam’s Capital Prep materials for as long as we offer that exam — including every update we make to it. If we ever retire an exam, we’ll give Lifetime holders at least 90 days’ notice first. It doesn’t cover other exams, and it is personal to your account.

How the retake reimbursement works (Lifetime only)

  • It has a higher bar than the refund: two qualifying mocks at your exam's qualifying score (shown on its Guarantee page) inside the 14 days before your exam — not just one — and your SurePass readiness meter at “Getting close” or above when you clear them (once reached, that marker is recorded and never taken back). Meet the refund’s conditions but not these, and your claim still refunds your pass in full — only the retake reimbursement is off.
  • It is a reimbursement, not a payout: after your claim is approved, book and pay for your retake, then send us the receipt. We reimburse what you actually paid, up to the official retake fee for your exam — in full, whatever that fee is.
  • Where one certification is earned by passing more than one exam (CompTIA A+ is two cores), each exam is covered on its own and those exams share one cap: the full cost of retaking every exam in that certification ($548 in total for CompTIA A+’s two cores).
  • One funded retake per exam, ever — not one per attempt.
  • It covers fees you paid out of your own pocket. If your firm or employer paid your exam fees (common for sponsored exams such as the Series 7), your claim is the full refund of your Capital Prep purchase.
  • For bundles: every exam in the bundle you sat and didn’t pass is covered — refund of that exam’s share plus its retake fee, each exam judged on its own bar — with retake reimbursements capped, in total, at the official retake fee of the most expensive exam in your bundle. One certification counts as one exam for that purpose.
  • Email the receipt to support@capitalprep.com within 90 days of opening your claim. That window is deliberately long: you have to wait before you can re-sit (FINRA requires 15 days after a failed attempt, and 60 days after a third failure within two years), then find a seat, then sit it. Ninety days is meant to be comfortable, not a trap.

How to claim

Everything happens in your account — there is nothing to email.

  1. Sign in and open the Guarantee page for your exam.
  2. Enter the date you sat the official exam — it’s on your score report.
  3. Upload your official score report: an image or a PDF, up to 10 MB. It must show your name, the exam, the result, and the test date. A clear photo or screenshot of the official result is fine; the provider’s own emailed PDF verifies fastest.
  4. Submit. We check your mock history automatically against your account, so there is nothing else for you to gather.

Filing a falsified score report voids the guarantee and your account’s access.

How fast we decide

  • Decision: within 5 business days of your claim. The decision, and the reason for it, appear on your exam’s Guarantee page.
  • Refund: within 2 business days of an approval, to your original payment method. Your bank may take a few days more to show it.
  • Retake reimbursement: within 10 business days of receiving your receipt.

The fine print

The guarantee doesn’t cover exams taken before clearing the bar (your exam's qualifying score (shown on its Guarantee page) on a full-length mock for the refund; two, with the readiness meter at “Getting close” or above, for the retake), exams you sat before you bought your pass, claims filed outside the windows above, unverifiable score reports, or accounts that broke our Terms. One SurePass claim per exam per account — a decision is final for that exam; if you think we got one wrong, email support@capitalprep.com and a person will look again. It reimburses the official exam retake fee only (no travel, rescheduling, or other costs). Fraudulent or falsified claims void the guarantee and the account’s access. Nothing here limits rights you may have under applicable law. Questions? We’re at support@capitalprep.com.
