"Studying offline: what works and what doesn't"

Updated 2026-08-21

Capital Prep keeps you studying through a flight or a dead zone — within honest limits. Here's exactly where the line is.

Works offline (paid passes):

  • Downloaded question packs. Grab a pack while you're online (up to 30 questions per pack, up to 10 packs a day) and drill it anywhere — with real answer reveals and explanations. When you're back online, your answers sync automatically and are graded into your progress.
  • Downloaded flashcards. Reviews you do offline sync back the same way.
  • Highlights and notes you make while connected-then-disconnected are queued and sync when the connection returns.

Needs a connection:

  • The study guide. Chapters are rendered per reader and aren't stored on your device.
  • Audio narration — it streams.
  • Mock exams — they're timed and server-scored, so they run online.
  • Miles, search, and your live dashboard stats.

Practical tips

  • Download your packs and open your flashcards before you board.
  • If the app shows its offline screen, anything you downloaded is still there.
  • Progress made offline can take a moment to appear in your stats after you reconnect — see "My progress or streak looks wrong" if something seems off.

The free trial doesn't include offline downloads — they come with any paid pass.
