TEA reports the PPR on a 100–300 scale and sets the passing score at 240. That is a scaled score, not a percentage of the questions: TEA says outright that "the number of correct answers needed to pass one version of a given exam might vary slightly from the number needed to pass another version", because the forms are equated to each other. So there is no fixed number of right answers to aim at, and anyone who prints one has invented it. The 90% our mocks are marked against is OURS, not TEA's — it is the bar we score your practice on, and it is also the score that qualifies you for the guarantee.

TEA charges $116, plus a Texas.gov payment processing fee that is never refunded and whose amount is not published — it appears at checkout. A retake is the full amount again — TEA's testing policies say you are required to pay the exam fee when registering to retake an exam, and no discounted second sitting exists. Three things make a failed attempt cost more than money. You cannot sit again for 30 days, and you cannot even register until your last result posts to ECOS. If you are in an educator preparation program, your program has to approve the retest. And Texas limits you to five attempts on a certification exam ever — the first and four retakes — after which you cannot be certified in that field unless TEA grants a test-limit waiver. Ask your program what you already have.
