The new one, and you should know that before you buy. NHA is releasing an updated CPCT/A exam on 13 January 2027, with its own updated study materials landing 7 October 2026. This bank, guide and mock set are written to that new test plan. If you are sitting on or after 13 January 2027, this is prep for exactly the paper you will sit. If you are sitting before then, here is the honest difference: it is the same five domains and the same 120-question, two-hour form, and NHA describes the change as having "minimal impact to exam topics and content areas" — what moves is the weighting. Infection Control goes from 11 of the 100 scored items to 16, Patient Care from 45 to 43, Phlebotomy from 14 to 12, and Compliance, Safety and Professional Responsibility from 20 to 19. So you get more infection control than today's form asks for and about two and a half questions less on each of two domains, and nothing on today's plan is missing — NHA publishes a crosswalk and every task on the old plan maps forward. One more thing worth knowing: NHA says anyone who fails within 30 days of 13 January 2027 has to retest on the new exam. If that could be you, this is the version you want.

Yes, and at the weights the CPCT/A actually gives them, which is the part people get wrong. Phlebotomy and Nonblood Specimen Collection is 12 of the 100 scored items and EKG is 10 — about 22 questions between them on a 120-question paper. The guide gives each its own chapter, the bank carries 115 phlebotomy items and 96 EKG items, and the mocks draw them at those shares. What this is not is a full phlebotomy or EKG training course: it is the phlebotomy and EKG the CPCT/A asks you, sized to the CPCT/A's own paper.

No. NHA awards the CPCT/A on the written certification examination alone — there is no separate in-person skills demonstration to pass, so nothing about this credential is out of scope for what you are buying. Worth saying plainly, because the patient-care route through a state nurse aide registry does have a hands-on half and people arrive assuming this one does too.

NHA asks for a high-school diploma or the equivalent, plus one of several routes: a training program in the field completed within the past five years, a registered apprenticeship, formal medical services training from any branch of the US military, the coursework half of an employer-based training program your employer verifies, or supervised work experience. Check NHA's current requirements before you apply — they are the ones that count.

$169, paid to NHA, and a retake is the full $169 again — NHA's own Candidate Handbook says it twice: "Candidates must pay an examination fee for each exam attempt" and "For each retake attempt, you must re-register and pay the full examination price." You wait 30 days between attempts, you get three of them, and after a third failure you wait a full year. On the plan in force before that date the same five domains run 45, 20, 11, 14 and 10, and the form is the same 120 questions in the same two hours.

NHA reports a scaled score out of 500 and 390 passes — its own pass-rate sheet puts it flatly: "The scaled passing score for all examinations is 390/500." A scaled score exists so that slightly harder and easier forms are treated the same, which also means it does not translate into a percentage of questions correct, so nobody can honestly tell you what 390 is out of 100. The 80% our mocks are scored against is our own bar, stated as ours, and it is also the score that qualifies you for the guarantee.

NHA sells a CPCT/A study guide, a set of practice tests, and the two bundled. The practice tests are 100-item tests wired to NHA's Focused Review remediation, the study guide comes in printed or online form, and NHA's own product pages note that the online materials "can only be accessed on your computer or tablet." They come from the body that writes the exam and that is worth something. They are also being replaced on 7 October 2026 for the new exam version, they are not priced publicly, and none of them refunds anything if you fail. Buy them alongside this if you want the authority's own questions; they are a different job from the one this does.
