Questions, answered
What's inside the study portal?
The full Fast Track Study System — every practice question, every flashcard deck, full-length mock exams, narrated audio, Miles the AI tutor, and the entire study guide, every chapter readable and highlightable. The cheat sheet — the highest-yield facts as a PDF — is in the study portal on every pass, with instant access to download it. Every pass opens all of it, backed by the SurePass Guarantee.
How does the SurePass Guarantee work?
Score 85%+ on one full-length mock, sit the real test, and if you don't pass we refund what you paid. On Lifetime, clear two mocks with your readiness meter at "Getting close" or above and we also pay up to $175 toward your retake fee. You file the claim in your study portal with your official test report. Worth saying plainly on this test, because it is unusual: every drone school on our comparison table pays something when you fail too. Ours is at parity on the money and looser on the conditions — none of it asks you to finish a 15-hour video course first.
What is on the test, and how long is it?
60 scored multiple-choice questions in two hours. The FAA actually serves 65 — the extra five are unscored validation items you cannot tell apart from the rest — and the two hours covers all 65, so the clock is not tight. Five divisions, and they are nowhere near even: Regulations carries 48% of the points, Operations 25%, Airspace & Requirements 20%, Weather 5%, and Loading & Performance 2%. Almost three quarters of the test is regulations and operations, which is exactly how the guide, the question bank and the mocks are apportioned — and it is why the 2% division is worth ten minutes rather than an evening. You must be at least 14 to take it.
What score do I need to pass?
The FAA publishes it outright, and it is 70%. Its Airman Certification Standards say so in as many words — "Achieving a score of 70% or better is required to be considered as satisfactory for passing the certification knowledge test for a Remote Pilot Certificate with an sUAS rating" — and PSI's candidate bulletin and the FAA's own Airman Knowledge Testing Matrix both print the same 70. On a 60-question paper that is 42 right. Our mocks are marked against that same 70, because it is the FAA's line and the only one that decides your certificate. The SurePass Guarantee then has its own, HIGHER qualifying score — 85%+ on a full-length mock — and that number is OURS, set fifteen points above the FAA's on purpose, because a bare pass on our paper the week before is too thin a margin for us to stand behind. The FAA does not ask for 85; we do, before we will underwrite you.
How many full-length mocks do I get?
Four scored full-length sittings, each a brand-new 60-question paper weighted to the UAG test specification's own division shares and timed to the real two hours. Practice questions and timed practice are unlimited and never use one. They are drawn from a curated exam-grade set of 300 questions — five full papers' worth at this length — so a repeat never hands you the same 60.
Which pass should I buy?
Match it to your test date. PSI runs the UAG most days at most of its centers, so a lot of people book about a week out and study for exactly that week — the 7-Day Pass is built for it. A month out, the 30-Day. Lifetime is worth a thought for a reason specific to this test: the FAA starts serving chart images from live Sectional Charts on 26 October 2026 and has not set a date for pulling the printed testing supplement, so this material will keep moving, and Lifetime is the tier that keeps getting the updates. Lifetime is also the only tier whose guarantee pays up to $175 toward your retake fee. One thing the market has probably taught you already: every drone school on our table sells one permanent price and nothing shorter, so a week or a month is a shape only we offer.
What does the test cost, and what does a retake cost?
Nobody publishes one number, and that is the FAA's doing rather than ours. The FAA sets no price at all — six faa.gov properties, the Airman Testing FAQs and the testing matrix carry zero dollar figures between them. PSI sells the seat, and PSI's own candidate page prints two different figures in one place: a fee tile reading "PSI Exam Fee $96" with "Price may vary depending on testing location", and an FAQ reading "The price for an Airman Knowledge Test (AKT) is $175." The live figure sits behind an IACRA account, so we will not pretend to know which you will be charged. Our Lifetime tier pays up to $175 toward your retake fee, and a claim reads your receipt rather than a table — so someone who paid $96 is paid $96 and someone who paid $175 is paid $175. If you do not pass, 14 CFR 107.71 makes you wait 14 calendar days before you can try again, and no instructor endorsement is needed to do it.
What changes on 26 October 2026?
The pictures. The FAA's Airman Testing Community Advisory — August 2026 edition, and the September 2026 Special Edition repeats the paragraph word for word — says that from 26 October 2026 the UAG "will include image-based questions not found in the test supplements", using "clearer, up-to-date images from the latest Sectional Charts", and that "the specific images used in active test questions cannot be previewed, as doing so would compromise the exam's integrity." Two honest consequences. No product can show you the chart you will be handed — ours included — so anyone still promising you the actual chart questions is describing a paper the FAA is retiring. And the thing worth buying is the skill of reading a sectional rather than the memory of one, which is what the Weather and Airspace & Requirements chapters teach. The FAA also says the printed testing supplement stays in test centers until it announces a removal date, and it has not set one.
Isn't the FAA's own material free?
All of it, and you should download it: the Remote Pilot – Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Study Guide, FAA-S-ACS-10B (the Airman Certification Standards this test is built from), the testing supplement and the FAA's sample questions are published at no charge. Every seller on our comparison table, us included, sells organization and teaching on top of a free government document, so the question is never who has the material — it is what you get around it. Here that is a 110-page guide narrated end to end, 475 questions apportioned to the published division weights, 207 spaced-repetition cards, four full-length papers on the real two-hour clock, a readiness score, and a tutor that answers out of your own chapters and cites them so you can check it.
Are the questions like the real test?
Same length, same clock, same balance: every item is written to the five divisions in the UAG test specification and apportioned to their published shares, so a mock is the shape of the paper you will sit. Every key was recomputed from its own question before the explanation was read, and every item carries a worked rationale. One claim we will not make, and it is the loudest line in this market: nothing here is a real FAA question. The FAA does not publish its live bank, our items are four-option and written by us, and from 26 October 2026 a bank of remembered items is exactly what a live-chart question is designed to defeat.
My test date moved. Does the plan adjust?
Yes. Change the date and the Game Plan rebuilds around the new one — it works backwards from your date, so a move forward compresses it and a move back spreads it out. Nothing is lost.
Can I use it on my phone, and does it work offline?
Yes to both. Add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app. Your due flashcards and a set of practice questions download automatically, and the whole study guide downloads too, narrated audio included, so a drive or a dead zone is still study time. Scored mocks and the tutor wait for a connection.
What happens when my pass expires?
Your progress is kept. You can upgrade at any time and pick up exactly where you were — and upgrades always credit what you already paid.
Do you offer refunds if I change my mind?
Yes, separately from the pass guarantee: 24 hours on the 7-Day Pass, 48 hours on the 30-Day Pass, or 72 hours on Lifetime, measured from your purchase (or from your upgrade, if you upgraded) — no questions asked, as long as you haven't sat your exam yet. EEA and UK buyers also keep their 14-day statutory right. The SurePass Guarantee is the other promise — that one is about your exam result, not about changing your mind.
Why are SurePass guarantees limited?
Because we honor them. Every guarantee is a real financial commitment we may genuinely pay out, so a limited number opens for this exam each day. The allocation resets at midnight in your own time zone, and the counter shows how many of today's are still open.
