Cut out the months of studying you don't need. CAST prep that adapts every day — no guessing what to do next.
Readiness score
A readiness score built from your own answers — not a progress bar. It moves as you answer, and recent work counts most. On a test that reports an index from 1 to 10 rather than a percentage, it is the only straight answer you get to "am I ready?"

Questions, answered
What's inside the study portal?
The full Fast Track Study System — every practice question, every flashcard deck, full-length mock exams, narrated audio, Miles the AI tutor, and the entire study guide, every chapter readable and highlightable. The cheat sheet — the highest-yield facts as a PDF — is in the study portal on every pass, with instant access to download it. Every pass opens all of it.
Is there a pass guarantee on the CAST?
No — and you should know exactly why, because the reason is about the test rather than about us. A pass guarantee is a promise about a verdict, and this test does not produce one. EEI scores the four tests on the number of questions you answer correctly, with no penalty for guessing, and then combines them into an index score from 1 to 10 which in EEI's own words "is used to determine the probability of success or failure". EEI publishes no index score that counts as a pass. The utility that gives you the test sets its own line, for the job family it is hiring into, and it is not obliged to tell you what that line is. There is nothing for a guarantee to point at, so we do not sell one here and nothing on this page pretends otherwise. Nobody else in this market sells one either. What you do get is the ordinary change-of-mind refund below, which is a different promise about a different thing.
What is on the CAST, and how long is it?
Four separately timed tests, 110 questions in 87 minutes of answering time. Graphic Arithmetic is 16 questions in 30 minutes off two drawings, with a calculator allowed and five options an item. Mechanical Concepts is the big one — 44 questions in 20 minutes, a picture and three options each, about 27 seconds apiece. Reading for Comprehension is 32 questions in 30 minutes across four passages. Mathematical Usage is 18 questions in 7 minutes, calculator allowed, using a conversion table printed at the start. EEI puts the whole session at about two hours once you add the instructions and the answer sheet.
How many full-length mocks do I get?
Four scored full-length sittings, each a brand-new 110-question paper built to EEI's own item counts and timed to the real 87 minutes. Practice questions and timed practice are unlimited and never use one. The whole 660-item bank is eligible, which is six full papers' worth, so nothing is held back behind a curated subset.
Which pass should I buy?
Match it to your test date. If the utility has already scheduled you and it is this week, the 7-Day Pass is built for exactly that. A month out, the 30-Day. Lifetime is the one to think about here, because your date is usually not yours to choose: a utility tests when it posts a requisition, employers set their own waiting periods between attempts, and most people who sit this test sit it for more than one employer before they get the job. Lifetime is still there for the next posting.
What score do I need to pass?
There is no published answer to that, and anyone who gives you one is guessing. EEI reports an index score from 1 to 10 rather than a percentage, and it publishes no value on that scale as passing — each utility sets its own minimum for the job family it is hiring into. The 85% our mocks are scored against is our own bar, stated as ours, and it is deliberately set high: it is the score this bank was measured to need, not a reading of EEI's scale.
What does the CAST cost me?
Nothing, as far as we can tell from every document EEI and the utilities publish. EEI licenses the battery to employers and the employer administers it as part of its own hiring process — Southern California Edison's candidate guide, for instance, walks you through the whole session, the Test Administrator, the scanner-read answer sheet and where to find EEI's free practice material, and never mentions a price, because you are not the customer. That also means there is no retake fee for anyone to reimburse, which is part of why this page carries no retake promise.
Am I sitting CAST or CAST-R, and does it matter?
It matters for one of the four tests. Both editions open with the same three: Graphic Arithmetic, 16 questions in 30 minutes; Mechanical Concepts, 44 in 20; Reading for Comprehension, 32 in 30. The original CAST finishes with Mathematical Usage, 18 questions in 7 minutes. CAST-R drops that and finishes with the Work Preferences Inventory instead — 105 statements you agree or disagree with, which has no right answers, cannot be scored and cannot be practiced. We prepare you for the four aptitude tests and we explain what the inventory is so it does not surprise you, and we do not claim to prepare you for it, because nobody honestly can. Your employer will tell you which edition you are sitting; if it does not, prepare for the four aptitude tests, because three of them are on both.
What about EEI's own practice tests?
Go and get them — they are free and they are good. EEI publishes a test brochure and detailed practice tests for the battery, and the utility that invites you to test normally hands you the link and a login in its candidate information guide, as Southern California Edison's does. They come from the body that wrote the test and ours cannot claim that. They are also a handful of example items with no timer, no scoring, no explanations and nothing that tells you whether you are ready, which is a different job from the one this does. Do both.
Are the questions like the real test?
Every item is written to what EEI publishes about the test it belongs to, weighted to EEI's own counts, and formatted the way EEI formats it: five options with None of the Above on Graphic Arithmetic and Mathematical Usage, three on Mechanical Concepts, four on Reading for Comprehension. Every key was recomputed from its own question before the explanation was read, and every item comes with a worked rationale. No EEI question, drawing or passage is reproduced anywhere — these are ours. What we will not do is claim a number we have not measured: where we have audited how a bank is built we publish it, and where we have not, we say so.
My test date moved. Does the plan adjust?
Yes. Change the date and the Game Plan rebuilds around the new one — it works backwards from your date, so a move forward compresses it and a move back spreads it out. Nothing is lost.
Can I use it on my phone, and does it work offline?
Yes to both. Add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app. Your due flashcards and a set of practice questions download automatically, so you can revise with no signal. The whole study guide downloads too, narrated audio included; scored mocks and the tutor still need a connection.
What happens when my pass expires?
Your account stays; the paid features stop. Your notes, highlights and flashcard history are all still there if you come back, and Lifetime never expires.
Do you offer refunds if I change my mind?
Yes: 24 hours on the 7-Day Pass, 48 hours on the 30-Day Pass, or 72 hours on Lifetime, measured from your purchase (or from your upgrade, if you upgraded) — no questions asked, as long as you haven't sat your exam yet. EEA and UK buyers also keep their 14-day statutory right.
