Approximately 110 multiple-choice questions in two hours. Five domains, and Doppler is the largest at 34%, then image optimization at 26%, performing examinations at 23%, clinical safety and quality assurance at 10%, and managing transducers at 7%.

ARDMS reports a scaled score between 300 and 700, and 555 passes. Scaled scoring means the number is not a percentage of questions correct, so nobody can honestly convert it into one — including us. The 80% our mocks score against is our own bar, stated as ours.

ARDMS publishes this itself, per exam, per year. In 2025, 68% of SPI candidates passed — so nearly one in three did not. The number that matters more if you have already sat it: of candidates who went back and retook the SPI that year, 53% failed again. That is the whole reason the retake-fee cover exists.

ARDMS sells one, in two versions it calls equivalent in difficulty, at $50 each: 30 questions in 30 minutes, one session, on the real test-centre interface. Its report tells you how many you got right and not which ones. ARDMS's own instruction is to "use the results as an indicator of your knowledge — not as a predictor of your actual exam score". It is worth $50 for interface familiarity, and it is not the 110-item rehearsal it says itself it is not.
