What counts as not passing: the ATDH has no official passing score — each program sets its own cut, and your score report shows a scale score, not a pass or fail. We state it up front because the alternative would be a guarantee nobody could ever settle: your report shows eight scale scores from 200 to 500 and no verdict, and every dental hygiene program decides for itself what it will accept. Rasch item-response theory, equated across forms, reported as scale scores from 200 to 500 in 10-point increments. You get eight of them: an ATDH Overall, an English Language Skills score, and one for each of the six disciplines. The Overall is the average of the six discipline scales rounded to the nearest ten. The ADA is explicit that these are neither raw scores nor percentiles, so no percentage — including ours — maps onto them.
